Misha Zverev, older brother of young phenom Alexander, is in great shape and form. His attacking style of play fits the indoor tennis circuit. He lacks a very powerful serve but the courts in Kuala Lumpur are not extremely fast and recent winners have been the likes of Sousa and Monaco.

This is the first week at the Asian swing and players need to adapt. With Kuala Lumpur only being a 250 ATP tournament, the higher seeds will be already eyeing following week’s 500 and 1000 ATP tournaments.

Zverev pushed Tsonga to the brink last week in Metz with a tight three sets loss. Misha has been cruising through the qualification rounds in Metz and Kuala Lumpur. The only negative is that he might be tiring from playing back to back qualifications/main draw on two continents. However, the positive will be that he is accustomed to the court and I expect this to be decisive in his second round match against Lopez.
