Week 18 – ATP Masters 1000 Madrid Outright Tips

Back from a week off. Week 16 we saw outright tip Nishikori make the final to bank a small each way profit. After three ATP 250 tournaments in week 17, all the big guns are in action for the Madrid Open Masters 1000 event.

The Spanish armada of players will be looking to continue their relative dominance on clay in their home country. However, Madrid is played at altitude and conditions make it quick and we can expect good results from the power servers and more hard court players.

For me Nishikori is in for a Masters Tournament win in 2016. It could happen this week in Madrid were he played brilliantly in 2014, only to lose the final after retirement against Nadal, who he was destroying before his injury played up. Nishikori is coming of one week rest on the back of his Barcelona final in which he showed to be capable of beating the resurgent Nadal, especially on a faster court in Madrid.

Tip 1: Kei Nishikori €10 Each way for 1/3 the odds at Betfred available for 21.00

Second tip will be last year’s winner Andy Murray. Andy has been playing well this year and had his chances against Nadal in Monte Carlo. Madrid’s clay court and conditions are more adapt to Murray as he has shown the previous year. I certainly like his bottom half draw and see him comfortably make the quarters were he possibly has to get past Berdych who has lost a bit of confidence lately. Then, in semi’s a likely match up against home town favourite Nadal. It will be a tight match, as can be always expected from Nadal but I like Murray in such a match up in Madrid.

Tip 2: Andy Murray €10 Each way for 1/2 the odds at Paddy Power available at 11.00
